While the primary function of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is to enforce the nation’s federal drug laws, we understand that law enforcement alone cannot solve America’s drug problem. DEA is committed to reducing the demand for drugs through prevention and education activities. DEA’s Community Outreach and Prevention Support Section collaborates with its partners at the federal, state, and local levels to provide information to schools and communities on drug trends and the dangers of using illicit drugs. One of DEA’s initiatives is the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Program. This addresses a crucial public safety and health issue. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. We encourage everyone to dispose of any unwanted, unused, or expired prescription medications.

Empowering people in need to improve their own quality of life.
We empower them by helping them overcome their barriers to living-wage employment through our Career Center. We empower them by helping them succeed in school through our Village Library after-school tutoring program. We empower them by getting them through rough patches by providing them with healthy food through our Village Pantry and Mobile Food Pantry. We empower them by connecting them with others who can help guide them to medical care, housing assistance, and transportation through our Community Resource Center. This is the heart of our mission: To empower people in need to improve their own quality of life.

Founded in the wake of the 1965 Older Americans Act, the organization, once known as Senior Citizens Services, opened senior centers and served meals. In 2020, as Covid-19 reached the US, the centers closed, and lunch delivery fell to Meals on Wheels. This year, the organization emerged from the pandemic with a new direction and sense of purpose. No longer tasked with providing meals in senior centers, Sixty & Better is free to serve older adults with new programs to help them stay healthy, active, and contribute to community needs.

Since 1989 the Homeless Coalition has been leading the community solution to homelessness. We are local non-profit working with over 40 partner agencies together to realize our shared community vision of a vibrant community where everyone has a place to call home. The Homeless Coalition serves as a collaborative force, providing partner agencies with guidance and resources to ensure that interventions are effective and efficient for people in need in our community. Join us as we work to prevent and end homelessness in our community!
The Homeless Coalition got its start when homelessness was just emerging as a problem in Fort Worth in the 1980s. Formally established in 1989, the Homeless Coalition began as a volunteer-run organization providing oversight and planning for homeless services in Tarrant County.
Led by a volunteer board comprised of mainly homeless service providers, the Homeless Coalition partnered with local municipalities to plan and apply for federal funding to benefit providers in our community. As the Lead Agency for the Continuum of Care, the Homeless Coalition continues to submit the collaborative application for our community to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
In 2008, we hired our first paid employee, and since then the number of staff and capacity of the Homeless Coalition has expanded significantly, with a budget of $3.5M and a staff of 25.

The IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals.
The VITA program has operated for over 50 years. VITA sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including:
In addition to VITA, the TCE program offers free tax help, particularly for those who are 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors.
While the IRS manages the VITA and TCE programs, the VITA/TCE sites are operated by IRS partners and staffed by volunteers who want to make a difference in their communities. The IRS-certified volunteers who provide tax counseling are often retired individuals associated with non-profit organizations that receive grants from the IRS.
VITA/TCE services are not only free, they are also a reliable and trusted source for preparing tax returns. All VITA/TCE volunteers who prepare returns must take and pass tax law training that meets or exceeds IRS standards. This training includes maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of all taxpayer information. In addition to requiring volunteers to certify their knowledge of the tax laws, the IRS requires a quality review check for every return prepared at a VITA/TCE site prior to filing. Each filing season, tens of thousands of dedicated VITA/TCE volunteers prepare millions of federal and state returns. They also assist taxpayers with the preparation of thousands of Facilitated Self-Assistance returns.
