Drop Off Unused Medication at Empowering Seniors Expo

September 14, 2023
Empowering Seniors Expo is fast approaching! The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has organized a take-back program for any unused medications. This program provides an exceptional opportunity to safely dispose of medicines you no longer require and help prevent misuse.
Guidelines:
Controlled / Non-Controlled: Over the counter medications may be collected from individuals. This does not include intravenous solutions, injectable items, and syringes due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens.
Participants may dispose of medication in its original container or by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box. Please ensure no sharp material are placed on the boxes. No attempt should be made to open up containers and remove the pills. This service is for the general public only, and does not include pharmacies, physicians, veterinarians, etc.
Illicit Substances: Marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in collection containers. If an individual attempts to surrender an illicit controlled substance, law enforcement personnel should handle such materials as abandoned property in accordance with department policy.
Be sure to take advantage of this program! Once you’ve disposed of your medication, enjoy the rest of the morning visiting vendor booths, get a health screening, enjoy a workshop, entertainment, food and more. You may event win a prize!
